Located in the heart of Minnesota's lake country, Leech Lake is one of North America's premier drive to destinations. Dubbed the "Muskie Fishing Capital of the World" Leech lake is the site of the famous "muskie rampage" and remains one of the most productive muskie fisheries in North America. Walleyes share the spotlight with muskies, Leech is one of the states best walleye lakes. With over 110,000 acres of water Leech Lake also offers incredible variety including largemouth bass, northern pike, crappies and the popular and tasty yellow perch.
Most years spring and fall provide the most consistent walleye fishing with muskie activity peaking from mid-summer through the fall. Early spring offers the best opportunity for "slab" crappies, while September is best for jumbo perch.
With hundreds of miles of undeveloped shoreline, Leech Lake is one of Minnesota's finest. From the deep, clear waters of Walker Bay to the fertile expanse of the "big lake," Leech Lake has something to offer for every fisherman, from the pros to the beginner.
